Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Office of Undergraduate Education?

The Office of Undergraduate Education coordinates and enhances the overall undergraduate experience at UA by integrating key functions such as general education, external scholarships and fellowships, and academic onboarding. Our goal is to provide every student with clear academic direction and support from orientation through graduation, helping them reach their full potential and prepare for their future careers.

How will this office relate to college-based academic advisors?

We will work in close partnership with all college‑based advising units to coordinate and strengthen university‑wide advising. As part of a new three‑year initiative, UA is adding 49 professional advisors across colleges and schools. This investment reduces advisor caseloads and allows for more meaningful, proactive one‑on‑one guidance. The Office of Undergraduate Education supports this effort by providing training, resources, and policy coordination to ensure consistent, high‑quality advising for every student.

Who can use the Office of External Scholarships and Fellowships?

This office serves all UA undergraduates, regardless of major, who are interested in nationally and internationally competitive awards. Whether you have outstanding academic achievements, a passion for leadership or public service, a compelling research project, or a desire to study or travel abroad, we can help. Award types include research funding, teaching placements, graduate school support abroad, leadership development, and internships.
