WELCOME TO LEGENDS
Your Launchpad into UA’s Academic Adventure
Legends 101 is designed to onboard new UA students to the UA academic culture – inspiring intellectual curiosity and nurturing growth as scholars and academic citizens. Legends 101 is required for all first-year and 201 is required for all first-time transfer students.
Legends 101 and 201: What’s the Difference?
First-Year Students: You’ll begin with Legends 101, a one-credit course that introduces you to the intellectual energy, diverse perspectives and academic traditions you’ll encounter at UA.
Transfer Students: If you’re joining us as a transfer student, you’ll take Legends 201, which will provide a similar introduction tailored to your unique starting point. Legends 201 acknowledges that you’ve already spent time in a college environment and helps you seamlessly transition into UA’s academic culture while discovering fresh opportunities here.
What You’ll Do
One Credit, Major Impact: Each Legends course meets once a week, making it easy to fit into your schedule.
Active, Engaged Learning: Collaborate, investigate, and create. Legends courses emphasize participation and authentic engagement.
Grading on Growth: Courses are graded A, B, C, or NC (no credit), encouraging you to focus on growth, curiosity, and meaningful learning.
Choosing Your Legends Course: When registration opens, browse the available Legends 101 or Legends 201 sections. Seek out a topic that excites you—sustainability, storytelling, entrepreneurship, cultural perspectives, technology, the arts, and more. These courses are designed to connect with your interests, inspire new ones or lead you toward unexpected paths.
Why Legends Courses Matter
Find Your Intellectual Home Base: Legends courses connect you with big ideas and pressing questions, building your confidence as a scholar, creator and leader.
Meet Faculty & Classmates: Each Legends class is discussion-based, giving you the chance to know a professor passionate about their chosen topic and to form a supportive community with your classmates.
Hands-On Exploration: Legends courses let you roll up your sleeves. You may explore a museum collection, debate cutting-edge issues, conduct a mini research project or create a digital portfolio.
Build Skills for Your UA Journey: These courses help you feel at home in UA’s academic environment so you’re poised to tackle more advanced classes and challenges.
